Fukushima Radiation Shows Up in California Milk, Fruits, and Vegetables
There have been reports that the radiation from the Fukushima disaster has been showing up in milk, fruits, and vegetables in California. This took place after the Fukushima nuclear disaster which transpired after a tsunami in 2011.
However, authorities in the United States were firm on their statement that there was nothing to worry about. In fact, the Food and Drug Administration said that testing was deemed unnecessary considering that their office has not even received a call that required them to carry out nuclear safety inspections. The FDA did not even think it is essential to level or deactivate the existing nuclear power plants in the U.S. There has not been any signs that inspection of nuclear safety is necessary.
The Environmental Protection Agency of the U.S.A., which was formed to keep human health and the environment protected, has stopped monitoring amidst the scare. It was said that the level of radiation found in air, soil, water and some edibles in North America was at minimal quantities and that it is not capable of causing any danger to human health and the environment.
Despite the assurance given by the authorities, the issue has remained fearsome. There was news about tests being carried out by some states and independent laboratories confirming the presence of radioactive iodine and cesium in milk and vegetables in California. Radiation has also been found in milk being sold in the markets of Arizona, Arkansas, Vermont, Washington, and Hawaii.
